WNC Students Awarded Free Admission to Nevada Museum of Art

Nov 5, 2025

Being a Western Nevada College student now comes with an inspiring new perk — free admission to the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno starting this November.

Through the generosity of the late Wayne Prim and his foundation, current and future WNC students will join their peers at the University of Nevada, Reno and Truckee Meadows Community College in enjoying unlimited access to one of the state’s premier cultural institutions.

“This partnership gives our students an incredible opportunity to connect with art, history and culture beyond the classroom,” said WNC President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe. “Nevada Museum of Art offers a space for creative discovery and reflection — experiences that complement the high-quality education our students receive at WNC.”

As a “Museum of Ideas,” the Nevada Museum of Art is celebrated for its thought-provoking exhibitions and vibrant programming. Some current exhibitions include “Deep Time: Sea Dragons of Nevada,” “The Art of Judith Lowry,” “Dorothea Lange: Seeing People,” and “When Langston Hughes Came to Town.”

Beyond full gallery access, students also enjoy free admission to live performances and events, including monthly First Thursday singer/songwriter showcases, Art Bite Fridays, where artists and curators share insights into their creative processes, and access to the Institute for Art + Environment which includes a research library, archives and study spaces.

“We are excited to partner with Western Nevada College to offer students free admission to the Nevada Museum of Art,” said David B. Walker, CEO. “This exciting new partnership reflects our shared commitment to lifelong learning and accessibility — ensuring that students across Northern Nevada have opportunities to engage with art, new ideas and cultural experiences.”

The student access program reflects Prim’s lifelong commitment to philanthropy in both the arts and education. A Life Trustee and major donor to the museum, Prim’s legacy continues to inspire opportunities that enrich Nevada’s communities.

WNC students can simply present their college ID card for free entry at the museum, located at 160 W. Liberty Street in Reno. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and closed on Mondays.

“This is more than just a free admission,” Dr. Dalpe added. “It’s an invitation for our students to explore creativity, think critically and engage with the world through art. We appreciate the Nevada Museum of Art for their partnership to support WNC and its students.”
