Nevada Promise Scholarship Offers High School Seniors Pathway to Affordable Higher Education

Oct 2, 2026

Oct. 31 Deadline to Apply Approaching

High school seniors graduating in spring 2027 can apply for the Nevada Promise Scholarship, a last-dollar scholarship that can cover tuition and mandatory fees not covered by other federal or state gift aid for up to three years at Western Nevada College.

The application deadline is Oct. 31.

Created by the Nevada Legislature in 2017, Nevada Promise is designed to help remove financial barriers to higher education. There aren’t income or high school GPA requirements, making the scholarship available to a broad range of Nevada students who meet the eligibility requirements. Students must begin at WNC in the fall immediately following high school graduation.

“The Nevada Promise Scholarship opens a door to higher education for Nevada high school seniors that might otherwise seem out of reach,” said WNC President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe. “We want students and their families to know that they don’t have to navigate this opportunity alone. WNC is here to help students understand the requirements, complete the necessary steps and begin their college journey with confidence. I encourage every eligible senior to apply before the Oct. 31 deadline.”

The scholarship can provide up to three years of coverage for eligible registration and mandatory fees remaining after other qualifying gift aid is applied. It does not cover expenses such as textbooks, lab fees or housing.

And applying is just the beginning. WNC representatives help Nevada Promise applicants stay on track with the program’s requirements, including completing a training session, applying for the FAFSA, completing community service and meeting with a mentor. Students must complete each required step by its deadline to maintain eligibility.

Don’t miss the opportunity to make your college education more affordable.
