Students that have not been admitted to WNC will first need to complete the WNC Application for Admission before credit can be evaluated and applied.

How to Request an Evaluation of Credits

Students should first review the policies associated with credit for prior learning.  Students who believe they might qualify should:

  1. Reach out to Admissions and Records to request an evaluation of their certifications and/or previous training.
  2. Admissions and Records will connect the student to the appropriate academic division/faculty for initial review.
  3. Student should speak with academic division and faculty in the appropriate subject area to determine if credits can be awarded toward the desired degree/certificate program or if a student can complete a challenge exam toward specific courses.
  4. If division approval is obtained, students must submit the appropriate signed and approved forms to Admissions and Records.
  5. If approved by Admissions and Records, students must pay the required fees at the Cashier's Office, if applicable, and submit the payment receipt to Admissions & Records.

Students are responsible for communicating with appropriate academic division and faculty to ensure that their request is moving forward.

Eligible Certifications and Courses

Courses beyond those listed below may also be eligible, pending faculty evaluation.

Please note that:

  • Eligible courses listed are subject to change.
  • Not all certifications/training lead to credit for a specific class or even elective credits.
  • Courses for which a student has registered and started will not be substituted.
  • The workforce certification evaluation process may take up to 10-12 weeks, and approval is not guaranteed. Students can help avoid delays by regularly checking their email and responding promptly to requests from the academic division and faculty.
