Foundation Welcomes Community Members at 'Mary Poppins' Reception

Assemblyman Philip P.K. O'Neill attended WNC Founation's reception to celebrate the opening of Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company's production of "Mary Poppins."

The historic Carson City Community Center was transformed into a magical wonderland as the Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company (WNMTC) unveiled its highly-anticipated production of “Mary Poppins” earlier this month. The grand opening drew the city's most esteemed guests, creating an evening filled with enchantment and anticipation.

Prior to the curtain's rise, the Western Nevada College Foundation welcomed community members. Among the attendees were college donors and elected officials, Mayor Lori Bagwell and Assemblyman Philip P.K. O'Neill who shared their passion for theatre amidst tables adorned with cocktails and charcuterie delights.

“We are delighted that so many members of the community participated in this electric night,” said WNC President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe. “It reminded me of a tailgate party before a huge college football game.”

Members of the Foundation Board were in attendance, including Foundation Board Chair Tina Picetti, Vice Chair Michelle Ketten, Jeff Brigger, Barb D’Anneo, Maria Denzler, Stacey Woodbury, Sandy Foley, Rochelle Tisdale, Lupe Ramirez and Amanda Jacobson. Laughter and lively conversation filled the air as the patrons of the arts mingled and celebrated their shared love for the stage.

“We are thankful to everyone who attended and being able to hold this kind of event to recognize the hard work and dedication that Stephanie Arrigotti and her entire WNMTC team put into the production of ‘Mary Poppins,’” said WNC Foundation Executive Director Niki Gladys. “It definitely was a night to remember!”

Once the lights dimmed, the magic of Mary Poppins’ enveloped the room, captivating all fortunate enough to be in attendance. The musical's spellbinding wonder transported the audience to a world of whimsy and charm, where Mary Poppins' enchanting adventures came to life.

The Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company's rendition of “Mary Poppins” promised to be a captivating journey, with performances scheduled on weekends through Nov. 19 at the Carson City Community Center.
