WNC has transitioned to remote operations on Monday, Feb. 5, because of the winter storm. Online instruction should continue as normal.

The Carson City campus, including the Child Development Center, will be closed. The Fallon campus is planning regular business hours at this time.

Because we have built up resources to allow for remote capabilities, and to keep instruction and operations running as much as possible, professional and classified employees who are able to work remotely are expected to do so.

If an employee does not wish to work remotely and remote work is available, they may request Annual Leave. Supervisors should be understanding that weather-related closures will interfere with productivity and create atypical personal obligations.

Leave eligible employees whose duties must be performed on-campus are eligible for Administrative Leave per the parameters below. Employees who are able to work remotely are not eligible for Administrative Leave. If you have questions regarding your ability to work remotely, please contact your supervisor.

Administrative Leave Parameters

Leave eligible employees who are not able to work remotely while the campus is closed are eligible for Administrative Leave for any hours of the employee’s shift they did not work. Employees previously scheduled for Annual or Sick Leave are not eligible for Administrative Leave due to office closure.

Administrative Leave must be entered in Workday, and should only be entered after it has been discussed with, and authorized by, the supervisor. Supervisors with questions on Administrative Leave should contact humanresources@wnc.edu.

Non-leave eligible employees whose duties must be performed on campus are not eligible for Administrative Leave. However, you may contact your supervisor to discuss the possibility of making up scheduled hours not worked during office closures.

Buildings will remain locked during campus closures. In order to ensure campus safety, please do not come to campuses when they are closed or prior to opening on late start days. During periods of inclement weather, please check the college website and/or email for operational adjustments to ensure you get the latest information before heading to campus.

Employees are also encouraged to visit weather.gov for weather watches, warnings and advisories and nvroads.com or the Nevada 511 app for highway conditions, chain controls and current operation status.
