Potential students, area manufacturing representatives and a manufacturing business advisor turned out for the Workforce, Career and Technical Education's Manufacturing Open House on Oct. 10 at Western Nevada College's Donald W. Reynolds Center for Technology.

WCTE Director Travis Carr and Industrial Technology Instructor Matthew Anderson led tours of facilities, and Anderson provided demonstrations of some of the college's technology.

“We're always excited to showcase our programs and highlight the numerous high-wage career opportunities in manufacturing,” said Travis Carr, WNC’s director of WCTE. “We are grateful to DETR for including us in this important national event to raise awareness of manufacturing and hopefully expand the pipeline of talent for our employer partners.”

WNC now offers options in career fields such as Manufacturing Technician, Engineering Technician, Industrial Technician, Industrial Maintenance, Robotics Technician, Systems Technician and Production Lead.

“The WNC manufacturing program has been very successful at training students for jobs in our local community,” said WNC President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe. “We strive to offer the latest training on the latest technology to ensure students are prepared.”
