Children Enjoying New Playground Set at Child Development Center
Nov 17, 2023
There is an extra boost of excitement and enthusiasm emanating from children at the Child Development Center this fall.
Western Nevada College’s early childhood preschool facility is breaking in new playground equipment located behind the CDC.
“We have had our new playground for about a month, and we are still finding new and interesting ways to enjoy it!” said CDC Director Anna Lisa Acosta-Rogers. “The children love all the climbing features, fun features and soft surfacing. The children also love running up and down the climbing structure area and think the butterfly is beautiful!”
Through the generosity of E.L. Cord Foundation (which provided a amajority of the funding) and WNC Foundation, the CDC was able to replace an outdated and worn playground set in October. It’s designed for children ages 2 to 5.
“We use our classrooms and outdoor environment as additional educational resources. By upgrading our outdoor playground, the hope is that children will have additional spaces to play and we learn through play,” Acosta-Rogers said.
Listening to the enjoyment children are having on the new playground equipment never gets old.
“We have all really enjoyed hearing the laughter and excitement as we use the play structure every day,” Acosta-Rogers said.
The CDC opened in 1993 and has been recognized for six straight years as the Best Child/Day Care Provider in the Nevada Appeal’s Best of Carson City through voting from community members.
Recently, children from the Child Development Center had a unique opportunity to showcase their creativity and talent by creating notecards that are available for sale. By purchasing these notecards, individuals are contributing to the educational initiatives, programs and activities offered at the preschool. Each package of notecards sells for $15 each and includes two notecards for each piece of artwork for a total of 12 cards.
