WNC Child Development Center Retains Best of Carson City Award

Sep 1, 2025

Sustaining the distinguished honor as the community’s top child care provider in Carson City stems from Western Nevada College’s Child Development Center’s dedicated daily approach to caring for others’ children.

CDC Director Anna Lisa Acosta-Rogers said that emphasizing the importance of early childhood education and providing outstanding care for the community’s children every day are instrumental in the center’s success.

“Western Nevada College is tremendously proud of the Child Development Center and the extraordinary team of educators who make this recognition possible year after year,” said WNC President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe. “Earning the community’s trust as the top child care provider for eight straight years speaks to their unwavering dedication, quality of care, and the vital role they play in supporting families and shaping the earliest stages of education in our region.”

Acosta-Rogers and the CDC were recognized as the Nevada Appeal’s Best Child Care/Day Care Provider in Carson for the eighth straight year.

“We are so incredibly proud of winning this award for the past eight years,” Acosta-Rogers said. “We truly love what we do and are honored to care for the children we serve.”

The CDC was among the winners that were presented with their award on Aug. 22 at Casino Fandango.

Teachers and staff provide nearly 100 children from community families with safety, critical care and formative education daily. The CDC also stands out because of its accreditation and ratings. It is the only National Association for the Education of Young Children accredited program in the area (doesn’t include Washoe County) and is also esteemed for its five-star rating from the Nevada Department of Education’s Quality Rating and Improvement System.
