Geosciences Professor Dr. Winnie Kortemeier has planned an Earth Day tour that will be both educational and exploratory.
Dr. Kortemeier will take participants from the top of Goni Road (north end) to Cinderlite Pit on Friday, April 22. The destination is to explore the site of a Carson City volcano one that is less than 1 million years old.
After the car tour reaches Cinderlite Pit, Dr. Kortemeier will also identify rocks and discuss the geologic history of Eagle Valley.
The Western Nevada College community is invited to join the tour, presented by WNCs Healthy Campus and Environment Committee. It will start at 5 p.m. and approximately end at 6 p.m.
