Feb 2, 2022

Western Nevada Colleges Nerd Herd officers Alexander Bevans and Alyssa Butler made a lot of local senior citizens happy on Friday morning (Feb. 11) when they handed out socks and blankets at the Carson City Senior Center.

The student club raisedmoney for the donations in the fall. Thanks to everyone who donated!

In addition, the Carson City Senior Center received $482 for its Meals on Wheels program after the students community fundraising efforts were matched by the Pay It Forward Project created by John McDougall.

The blankets and socks donated by WNCs Nerd Herd were welcomed by senior citizens who know that there is some cold and storms to come this winter.

The Nerd Herds fundraising efforts came with a generous bonus as the Pay It Forward Projected matched their donation.

Nerd Herd officers Alyssa Butler and Alexander Bevans were repeatedly asked what the socks and blankets cost. The recipients were surprised when they learned they were free donations to the Carson City Senior Center.
