Food Pantry Operating Hands Free This Semester

Feb 9, 2021

For students who dont already know about it, Western Nevada College is committed to fighting hunger and food insecurity by offering a variety of non-perishable food and hygiene items through Wildcat Reserve.

The colleges food and hygiene pantry is in its third month of operation and is available to students, regardless of income.

At WNC, the safety and well-being of our students, faculty and staff is top priority,WNC Student Life Coordinator Heather Rikalosaid. To keep everyone safe, the ordering process during the spring 2021 semester will be done hands free.

All orders are delivered via curbside pickup in the parking lot outside of the Student Center entrance.Students are required to complete intake and ordering forms before they can pick up any food and/or hygiene items. To access these forms, go tohttps://www.wnc.edu/wildcat-life/food-pantry/. Once they are completed, send your forms tostudentlife@wnc.edu. The intake form will need to be filled out once per semester. Students can submit one order form per week.

Orders will be filled on Wednesdays and can be picked up on Thursdays. Curbside pickup will take place in the parking lot outside of the Student Center entrance on Thursdays. When students arrive to pick up an order, they will park in a designated spot, call the Student Life Desk (775-445-3218) and inform the student worker of their name and the spot where they are parked. Once they have checked in, Student Life will deliver their order to that parking spot.

Donations from NV Energy, Visiting Angels and University Police Services helped Student Life prepare and stock the pantry to serve students. However, nonperishable food donations and hygiene items are still being accepted, as well as monetary donations.

If you have questions or need additional assistance, please call Student Life at 775-445-3218.
