Western Nevada College faculty and staff took the time to better understand veterans on Oct. 17 during the Veterans Resource Center’s Bridges of Support event on the Carson City campus. The objective of the event was to facilitate a better understanding of veterans as they transition to civilian life and provide them with empathy and additional support on the college’s campuses.

The conference included Vet Smart Training sessions presented by Felipe Gutierrez and Alixe Bunyard of Truckee Meadows Community College’s Veterans Services and a lively panel discussion featuring student veterans Rich Tidrick, Trent Whitney and Michael Robinson, who talked about their experiences at WNC.

A WNC faculty and staff panel of Susan Trist, Matt Anderson and Lauren Slemenda Moore discussed best classroom practices for veterans.
