Ready to hit the road? Let us help. Our CDL Prep course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to obtain your Class A Drivers License. As part of the course, we'll connect you with employers who are eager to hire our graduates, so you can walk straight out of class and into a job with a family-sustaining wage. Classes run five days per week (Monday-Friday) from 8 AM-5 PM.
Please allow 2 business days for application processing. (In other words, the absolute latest you can get a completed application in and still be accepted to the program - if there is a spot available - is by Wednesday at 5:00 PM the week before the class starts.)
Classes run Monday-Friday from 8 AM-5 PM for 5 weeks.

Course Requirements
Here are the things we consider when deciding whether to accept a student into our program. Take a look at this list if you have concerns about anything here, give our office a call at (775) 445-4210 or e-mail us at conted@wnc.edu to ask whether you'll qualify.
Just because you have something on your driving record doesnt mean you're automatically disqualified. We take a look at each student's driving record individually and consider the circumstances. A single speeding ticket a few years ago is probably not going to disqualify you from the program, but a recent DUI, reckless driving citation, or a whole lot of smaller traffic offenses might. If you're wondering, ask!
You'll need to have a doctor verify that you have the physical ability to safely drive a commercial vehicle. This includes having good eyesight (with or without glasses/contacts), good hearing (with or without hearing aids), healthy blood pressure and pulse rates, and several other items that the doctor will review with you. We have physician partners here in town that we work with directly, so if you're concerned, let us know and we'll get you an answer!

"I can't say enough about my instructor. The positive reinforcement that guy gives is off the chart, and the way this program is structured works great. I can't thank all you guys enough!"
Rob Gill - 2022 Graduate
"The class was great, and I'm thankful the City of Fernley sent me to Western Nevada College for my training! I will be letting the city know that WNC should be their only choice for future CDL training."
Ryan Marks - 2022 Graduate
"My company and I did a lot of shopping around before choosing WNC. After speaking with individuals who took other CDL programs, I was worried. But after everything was said and done I couldn't be more happy. I found my instructor to be very knowledgeable, patient and just all around a good instructor."
Brent Patterson - 2023 Graduate
"After a pretty intense two weeks, I tested last Friday and could not believe I was a first time go at all of the CDL tests. I was pretty shocked at how well my instructor has prepared us for the exam and I am quite confident that passing the exam without the training that Joe provided us would have been difficult, if not nearly impossible."
Eric Weber - 2023 Graduate
" Fred is a miracle worker. I had never driven a manual transmission or backed a trailer. I was confused and frustrated. Fred's knowledge, patience, and persistence helped it 'click' for me and I ultimately passed DMV's tests. Fred truly cares about his students and their success."
Vanessa Maddox - 2023 Graduate
"I have decided to start a trucking business of my own. I would really like to thank everyone at WNC that made this possible. I make considerably better income than before, and I am eternally grateful to everyone!"
Timothy Ward - 2023 Graduate
“I received a raise and have started driving commercial vehicles. I would like to add that Joe made the course an absolute pleasure and I can not thank him enough for his knowledge and expertise through the course. It is rare to have an instructor who understands the material being taught so well and who understands what matters.”
Eddie Morrow - 2024 Graduate
"Fred is an awesome instructor. He is very informative and knowledgeable. His teaching skills are phenomenal. I highly recommend WNC's CDL training course."
Robert Schneider - 2024 Graduate
