If you’re looking for a people-centered career in healthcare, the Community Health Worker program at Western Nevada College is designed to meet you where you are and help you get started quickly.
Community Health Workers play a vital role in healthcare by connecting individuals and families with resources, education, and support. This is a career built on conversation, trust, and community connection.
Our 8-week, 40-hour program prepares you to become a certified Community Health Worker in Nevada. No prior healthcare experience is required — just a desire to help others. Classes begin in Carson City on March 2 and Fallon on March 4!

About the Instructor: Jay Kolbet-Clausell
Jay Kolbet-Clausell is a community health leader and educator with extensive experience training and supporting Community Health Workers across Nevada. As former Program Manager for the Nevada Community Health Worker Association, he expanded statewide training, secured major grants, and built partnerships that improved access to care for rural and underserved communities. Jay brings both practical expertise and a passion for helping others succeed, giving students real-world insight into how they can make a lasting impact as Community Health Workers.
