Message from Senior WNC Leadership: Canvas Service Disruption Update, May 8

Dear WNC Students & Faculty,
We are writing to provide an update to yesterday’s notice regarding the cybersecurity
incident involving Instructure, the parent company for Canvas, which supports our
WebCampus learning management system. Access to WebCampus (Canvas) has been restored,
and normal system operations have resumed at this time. Users may now access WebCampus
course materials, assignments, grading tools, and communication features.
We are encouraging faculty to provide some flexibility for students with assignments
or exams due between yesterday and Sunday. The goal is to provide relief to students
impacted by this outage. As a simple precaution to minimize disruption in case of
any additional unanticipated Canvas issues, we recommend that you download any essential
WebCampus course materials that you may need for the remainder of the semester.
Our WNC Information Technology team will continue to monitor the situation closely
and provide timely updates as needed. Status updates can be found at status.wnc.edu.
We appreciate your patience and persistence, and we wish you a successful end of the
semester.
