Upcoming WNC Workforce Training Classes Provide Skills for Employment Opportunities

Mar 31, 2026

Western Nevada College is providing new opportunities this spring for individuals looking to gain hands-on skills and launch or advance their careers — without waiting for the next semester.

Through its workforce training hub in the Victory Logistics District in Fernley, WNC is offering an in-person Basic Electrical (ELM 110) course beginning April 7. Scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 9:45 p.m. through May 16, the class is designed to support training for careers in advanced manufacturing and related technical fields. The evening schedule provides flexibility for working students and those balancing other commitments.

On the Carson City campus, additional sections of Welding I and II will also begin in April. Classes run Thursdays and Fridays from April 9 through May 15, with both morning and afternoon sessions available. These courses provide students with practical, in-demand skills that are essential for careers in the skilled trades.

“These late-start classes are a great example of how Western Nevada College is responding to the needs of our students and local industries,” said WNC President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe. “By offering flexible, career-focused training in high-demand fields like electrical and welding, we are helping individuals build valuable skills that lead directly to employment opportunities and strengthen our regional workforce.”

Current students can register through myWNC, while those new to the college are encouraged to enroll and take advantage of these timely opportunities.
