Celebrating Rural Community Colleges at the Nevada Legislature!
Today, Western Nevada College proudly joined forces with Great Basin College for Rural Day at the Legislature, shining a spotlight on the vital role of rural community colleges in our state. For many of our students, faculty, and staff, it was a first-time experience inside the Nevada Legislature Building—a day filled with learning about state government and engaging with influential leaders.
Throughout the day, our delegation had the privilege of attending a senate meeting, interacting with esteemed state senators and assembly members, and gaining invaluable insights into legislative processes. It was an honor to meet and discuss important issues with representatives such as Senate District 15's Angela Taylor, Senate District 17 Minority Leader Robin Titus, Minority Whip Senate District 16 Lisa Krasner, Assembly District 5's Brittney Miller, Assembly District 14's Erica Mosca, and Assembly District 28's Reuben D' Silva.
In addition to fostering meaningful connections, WNC proudly showcased our commitment to education and community, sharing information about our college and distributing some awesome swag items. And of course, no legislative visit would be complete without a photo opportunity with Willy!
Thank you to everyone who made this day possible, and to our students, faculty, and staff for representing Western Nevada College with enthusiasm and pride!
