Child Development Center 2024 Graduation Ceremony

May 31, 2024

At Western Nevada College, the excitement of graduation season wasn’t limited to college and high school students. WNC's Child Development Center held its annual Preschool Graduation, celebrating the achievements of 18 young children.

The Child Development Center plays a crucial role in preparing children for kindergarten by focusing on their cognitive development, language skills, physical growth, literacy, mathematics, socialization, and more.

For the CDC staff, the graduation ceremony is a mix of joy and sentiment.

"Graduation is a time we all cherish, and I find myself in tears every year," said Child Development Center Director Anna Lisa Acosta-Rogers. "We form deep bonds with these children and feel incredibly emotional as we watch them grow and move on. It's a privilege and an honor to care for them. Whether they've been with us for five years or just a few months, each child leaves a profound impact on us."

Acosta expressed her hopes that the experiences at the CDC would have a lasting positive influence on each child's life.

"We aim to give them a strong foundation," she said. "My wish is that in the future, when they face challenges or new experiences, they’ll remember the support and encouragement they received here, knowing that they are capable, resilient, and kind."
