After a two-year absence, community members and workforce partners showed how much they missed the Reach for the Stars Gala, helping Western Nevada College Foundation raise a record amount for students.
The fifth annual event raised a total of $130,000 and netted $90,000 on Aug. 13 at Joe Dini Library on the Carson City campus.
Nearly 325 guests attended the benefit for students pursuing higher education. The WNC Foundation works closely with the business community to invest in education, raising critical funds to meet the ever-changing needs of the students and improve campus facilities and programs.

Their generosity and kindness will help us provide much-needed support for our students and provide a foundation for enhancing the education of future contributors to Northern Nevadas workforce and society, said WNC Foundation Executive Director Niki Gladys.
The starry night-themed event provided guests with the mystical experience of tarot cards, psychic readings, state-of-the-art telescope viewing, dancing to the music of Jeff Leep Orchestra, exquisite dining from Chef Howard Jachens, gifts, as well as live and silent auctions.
