Outstanding WNC Jump Start Student Eyes Engineering Career
Oct 20, 2022
As a Jump Start student at Western Nevada College who is on track to receive her Associate of Science degree in May before receiving her CHS diploma, Sara is proving she is ready to succeed in college and her career.
Sara credits her family with her success up to this point, pointing out that her parents and two brothers provide tremendous support and guidance.
Sara has focused on academics throughout her education, believing the harder she pushes herself, the more likely success follows and opportunities emerge. Before enrolling in the dual credit program in her junior year at WNC in Carson City, Sara enjoyed her role as a cheerleader and the volunteer projects they performed. Additionally, she volunteered with Stagecoach Bingo at the Community Center.
Her focus and dedication have definitely paid off as she is currently ranked first among her class along with three others who have maintained an unweighted GPA of 4.0, as well as a 4.82 weighted GPA.
In addition, Sara has made the Deans List at WNC each semester and is on the verge of receiving her third Academic Award at CHS.
When asked about her future plans, Sara shares that she plans to pursue a career in engineering. Her first choices for continuing her education are University of Nevada, Reno, and Montana State University, Bozeman, but she is also completing the Common App to see what opportunities may arise through this program, which offers connections to more than 1,000 colleges worldwide.
Join us in wishing her great adventures and success!
