Emergency Broadband Discounts Available to Qualifying Students and Families

Students and their households can receive a discount on their monthly internet bill through the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program.
The Emergency Broadband Benefit provides eligible households with up to a $50 discount on their monthly internet bill and a onetime discount for an applicable technology purchase during the health pandemic.
Requirements apply. Pell Grant recipients may qualify or if a member of your family meets one of the following criteria:
- Has an income that is at or below 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines or participates in certain government assistance programs.
- Received benefits under the free and reduced-price school lunch or breakfast program in school year 2019-20, 2020-21 or 2021-22.
- Experienced a substantial loss of income due to job loss or furlough since Feb. 29, 2020.
- Meets the eligibility criteria for a participating providers existing low-income or COVID-19 program.
In addition to the $50 monthly internet bill discount, a one-time benefit up to $100 is available to students who purchased a laptop computer, desktop computer or tablet through a participating provider.
