Board of Regents Reinstate S/U Grading Policy

Dec 2, 2020

The Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents recently reinstated the policy on Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory grading. Under the change, students may request Admissions and Records change their final letter grade to a Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory grade once the letter grade is posted for both the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters.

Because this change may cause unintended consequences (academic preparedness, financial aid, etc.), students are advised to consult a counselor and/or a financial aid adviser prior to submitting a request.

For Fall 2020 classes, request forms will be available online and accepted Monday, Dec. 14, 2020 through Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020. For Spring 2021 classes, request forms will be available online and accepted Monday, May 17, 2021 to Friday, June 4, 2021. Once a degree is posted, all grades are final.

An S grade will meet enrollment and degree progression requirements regardless of original letter grade with the exception of the nursing and paramedicine programs; however, students are urged to be mindful of academic preparation needed for student success. Grade translations for S/U COVID-19 Request: S (Satisfactory) = D- or better; U (Unsatisfactory) = F.
