With Carson City enduring an early and enduring summer heat wave like most of the West Coast, the Human Resources Department presented the perfect antidote on July 1: A Kona Ice Cool Down Day.
Employees were treated to snow cones of multiple flavors from the Kona Ice Truck as morning and early afternoon temperatures again climbed toward the 90s. Attendees didnt seem to mind that there was a line in front of the truck or that the snow cones turned their lips blue and green.
The event brought back childhood memories of when a snow cone truck playing an enticing jingle used to pass through neighborhoods delivering the perfect treat to wound-up children on a hot summer day.
It was also a great way to celebrate the return of all employees to campus after COVID-19 forced many to work from home.
