High School Equivalency Preparation
Every year, a number of students do not graduate from high school. The reasons for this are as unique as the individual. And without a high school diploma, career options are greatly limited.
Whether students last attended school recently or many years ago, ACCEL offers free classes to help them earn a high school equivalency credential. We determine what areas students need to work on and enroll them in an appropriate class. Students receive help to prepare for the five test subject areas:
- Language Arts/Reading
- Language Arts/Writing
- Math
- Science
- Social Studies.
Students must be at least 16 years old to enroll and must complete enrollment and testing prior to starting a preparation course. Students ages 16 and 17 years old may enroll, but must provide a letter of withdrawal from the last school attended and parental consent prior to enrollment.
ACCELs High School Equivalency Exam Preparation Program prepares students to take either the GEDor HiSet exam. Both of these approved tests allow Nevada students to earn the Nevada State Certificate of High School Equivalency.
To request more information about our preparation class options, please call us at (775) 445-4452 or e-mail us at accel@wnc.edu. To register for HSE preparation classes, complete our registration form.
HiSET and GED Testing Center
In addition to offering preparation classes, we also guide students through the test registration process and help them find test times that fit their schedules. ACCEL administers both the GED and the HiSet exam at our Testing Center at the Carson campus. Regardless of which exam you choose, an official Nevada Certificate of High School Equivalency is awarded upon passing. The certificate is honored nationwide.
You must register for the GED exam online at www.ged.com. There you can also learn more about the benefits and costs, find tutorials and practice, and view frequently asked questions about the exam.
Register for the HiSET exam in person at our Carson campus at 2201 W. College Parkway in Bristlecone building, room 340. Visit the HISET High School Equivalency Exam powered by PSI website to learn more about the benefits and costs, find tutorials and practice and view frequently asked questions about the exam.
Diploma Sender is the official high school equivalency record fulfillment service for Nevada. DiplomaSender provides the initial transcript and certificate free of charge. Additional transcripts and verification services are available for fee.
